June 2015 has been (and still is) a crazy busy month here at Glass Beads by Lotti with the regular Bude Farmers’ Market every Friday and Hartland Farmers’ Market on the first Sunday of the month, then Bude Arts and Music Festival (BAAM) on the 13th and 14th and then the Artland North Devon over the last weekend.
BAAM was a great arts and music event held in the grounds of Bude Castle with a big top and an acoustic tent, lots of food and craft stalls. Saturday was a bit of a washout weather wise, but the music was great and both tents were completely full with people enjoying the entertainment. There was also evening entertainment on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Sunday was a kinder day with the sun shining and people sitting on the grass enjoying the day.
In the Castle there was an art show with a difference, the ‘It’s not rubbish’ art show, with a theme of creatures of the deep. The pieces of art work all created with bits of rubbish collected from the beach, a great way to recylce all that horrible rubbish that litters our shores and encourages people to do a bit of cleaning up! The exhibits were amazing, real works of art, amazing the creativity hidden in our communities!
It was a bit of a tiring weekend in all, putting up the gazebo and taking it down 3 days on the trot (market on the Friday), and my friend from Tumbled Treasure and I provided some entertainment raising her gazebo on Saturday which was full of water from a last minute downpour on Friday and I got completely soaked with the ice cold water, but it made the other stall holders laugh and I have to confess that the two of us did get a serious case of the giggles; but we had a good time. However, although I really enjoyed this event the problem with having a stall is that you can’t really enjoy everything else that is going on, so next year I might do things a bit differently, but time to decide that later. Here are a few photos of the day.
